Job Description / Responsibilities
Under general supervision, this position receives incoming phone calls to the Police Department and City Emergency communications system: for emergency calls, dispatches the appropriate agency to respond to the need for assistance via a multi- channel radio system, and performs a variety of administrative support functions for communications system and department. Work significantly impacts the safety of the general public and the responding agency personnel. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
Successful applicant will have the educational equivalent of graduation from high school; strong customer service skills, familiarity with city geography, ability to multi-task and some typing experience.
Additionally, special requirements of certifications in VCIN/NCIC and Dispatcher school, CPR and First, and in Emergency Medical Dispatch will have to be completed during training.
This position will involve shift work, weekends and holidays so a flexible schedule is essential.
Starting Salary
$32,182
