Job Description / Responsibilities

(Prog Admin Manager III - 19216) The DCJS Division of Law Enforcement Services provides oversight and management of training standards and regulations for the criminal justice community, training programs in public safety and homeland security, Crime Prevention and Law Enforcement Accreditation Programs and the development of model law enforcement policies. As the Law Enforcement Standards and Policy Manager in the Division you will manage the administration of the training records management system, manage and direct the development and conduct of Job Task Analysis (JTA) to develop minimum training standards for entry-level law enforcement officers, entry-level jail officers, court security officers, civil process servers, communications officers, and other criminal justice system personnel.

You will provide leadership and supervision to a diverse team of criminal justice professionals while overseeing multiple program activities with both short and long-range focus. This includes managing complex programs; developing and identifying stakeholder needs, monitoring programs, evaluating of overall program performance, implementing policies and procedures, and supervising staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and oversee the development, updating, and implementation of law enforcement minimum training standards
  • Managing staff activities including the development of model policies, and oversight of law enforcement training records through the operation and maintenance of a training records database
  • Providing regular communication and technical assistance to criminal justice agencies throughout Virginia on training, training standards, and related topics

Hiring Range
$60,000 - $85,000

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Significant experience in policy development, planning, management, and supervision at the local and state level
  • Significant experience developing, directing and managing programs and administrative functions
  • Experience working effectively with public officials and criminal justice professionals or related positions at all levels of government
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree, with major course work in public administration, criminal justice, law, or related field
  • Extensive working experience in criminal justice or related field including planning, evaluation, program and policy development
  • Experience in the field of law enforcement with demonstrated experience in criminal justice/law enforcement policy development and implementation
