Job Description / Responsibilities

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) is conducting a competitive examination for Airport Police Officer positions. These positions may be at either Ronald Reagan Washington National or Washington Dulles International Airports. Candidates must be willing to work at either Airport in order to apply.

Salary
$47,032 to $77,602

Qualifications

To be eligible for the examination, candidates must meet the following criteria:

a.) be a U.S. Citizen

b.) be at least 21 years of age or within 6 months of your 21st birthday

c.) be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent

d.) have a valid driver’s license from your state of residence

e.) meet Visual Acuity standards (Far vision must be at least 20/30 in each eye corrected with lenses or spectacles. Uncorrected far vision must be at least 20/100 in each eye. Visual field performance without correction shall be 140 degrees in the horizontal median of each eye.)

f.) Candidates with a completed Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree will not be required to take the written test.

g.) Candidates who are current Law Enforcement Officers in any jurisdicition outside of VA will not be required to take the written test.

How to Apply

All candidates should submit an Airports Authority application and assessment via our website, www.mwaa.com. An application is preferred prior to testing, but not required. If you have taken the test within the past six months, you will need to wait six months from your previous test date to re-take the test. After screening your application and with successful test results, you will be scheduled for an oral interview. If you miss the testing opportunity, please monitor the website for an update of the next scheduled testing session. Seating is limited and will be provided on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis.

Open Testing will be administered Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 8:30 am and 11:00 am. Invitation not required.

Registration for the 8:30 am test will begin at 8:00 am, and registration for the 11:00 am test will begin at 10:30a m. Seating is limited, so please plan accordingly. Applicants, who meet the eligibility criteria, will be given the opportunity to take the examination. The examination will test the applicant’s relative ability to be trained as an Airport Police Officer.

Qualified candidates will be scheduled for a structured oral interview by the Authority’s Staffing and Records Department. Candidates are subject to a thorough background investigation, which includes a full employment history check, a credit check, a criminal history records check, and a driving records check. The pre-employment screening process will also include a rigorous physical examination, drug test, psychological evaluation and polygraph.
