Job Description / Responsibilities

A Police Officer’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responding to calls for service
  • Investigating crimes
  • Conducting proactive patrols
  • Enforcing criminal and traffic codes
  • Testifying in court
  • Completing various forms of paperwork

Salary
$43,129 annually

(DCJS certified officers selected for hire may have a higher starting salary based on training and experience)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a Citizen of the United States;
  • Must be 21 years of age;
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent;
  • Must have a valid VA Driver’s License at the time of employment start date;
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.
