Job Description / Responsibilities

The Town of Dumfries has nine (9) total Officer positions. Persons who are interested must submit a completed application to the police department.  Résumés should be attached to the application.

Pay is $46,500 and a standard benefits package that includes VRS LEO retirement and employee fully funded health insurance.

Certified Officers will be offered a hiring bonus.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Must be a Citizen of the United States;
  2. Must be 21 years of age;
  3. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent;
  4. Must have a valid VA Driver’s License at the time of employment start date;
  5. Must not have been convicted of any felony.

Applicants must successfully complete:

  1. Physical Agility Test;
  2. Polygraph Examination;
  3. Psychological Examination;
  4. Physical Examination (to include a Drug Screen);
  5. Credit Check;
  6. Extensive background investigation (i.e. criminal background check, driver transcript review, etc.).
