Job Description / Responsibilities

The Radford City Police Dept. is now accepting applications for the position of Police Records Manager.

Job Description:

  • Maintaining all department records, including offense reports, accident reports, arrest records, fingerprinting cards, gun permits, summons, inter/inner department records state and local;
  • Disseminates all records requested according to state code and local policy;
  • Reviews and submits all offense reports to the state monthly;
  • Provides in-house offense report training to all personnel;
  • Creates and submits weekly reports to all media personnel, EMS officials, and Radford University;
  • Work with the general public on a daily bases;
  • Serves as the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) Officer for the Dept.;
  • Serves as the Records Officer with the Library of Virginia;
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred but not required.

Valid Virginia Driver’s license or able to obtain a valid Virginia driver’s license within thirty days of appointment.

Working knowledge in maintaining the daily functions of a Records Office.

Working skills in the use of a personal computer to include word processing, spreadsheets, and database management; demonstrates ability to work expeditiously under pressure and interpret information via telephone.

Experience and/or knowledge in the Freedom of Information Act and Library of Virginia preferred but not required.

Experience in criminal records management preferred but not required.

Knowledge and/or experience with Southern Software Records Management system preferred but not required.
