Charlottesville police start charging for funeral procession escorts
August 29, 2010 | Virginia News
Nowadays, if you want a funeral procession in Charlottesville, you have to pay for it, though the tradition is not as popular as it once was.

If a family wants a procession, the escorts are typically required for safety and insurance reasons. It’s a move that’s in line with a nationwide trend, according to Police Chief Timothy J. Longo.
