RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – After 40 years on the job, the University of Richmond's top cop is hanging up his badge.
Chief Robert Dillard is retiring June 30. When he started, the university didn't even have a department, just several security guards and one shared patrol car.
The chief built the department from scratch. Under his leadership, in 1990 the department became the first private university in the nation to become nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
