Smart, Safe & Sober (Traffic Safety)
Formed in 1997, Virginia's Smart, Safe & Sober Partnership is the cooperative efforts of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, the Virginia Department of State Police, the Virginia Sheriffs' Association, and DRIVE SMART® Virginia to promote traffic safety across the state.
Through a variety of public education campaigns and enforcement initiatives, the Smart, Safe & Sober Partnership strives to reduce fatalities and injuries on our roadways. The Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police has committed to making traffic safety a major priority by devoting two full-time staff positions to these efforts.
Additionally, the Smart Safe & Sober website was designed and is maintained by a member of the VACP staff. For more information about the Smart, Safe & Sober Partnership and it's programs, visit www.smartsafeandsober.org.
