Virginia Law Enforcement Social Media Group

Policing used to be simply about finding the bad guy and arresting him. These days, a big component of policing is how an agency uses social media to catch suspects and communicate with the public.

But how do you find the time to manage it and what do you post? The Virginia Law Enforcement Social Media Group (VALE SMG) is meant to help agencies with just such questions by bringing different agencies together to discuss and explain their experiences and policies.

The goal of the group is to have quarterly meetings in different locations across the state to discuss law enforcement-specific social media issues. The first meeting was held May 1, 2014 in Richmond and upcoming meetings are in the works.

We’re also adding people to a Steering Committee who will meet or talk monthly about related law enforcement and social media issues and help plan the quarterly meetings.

Anyone interested in joining the VALE SMG email group, attending the quarterly meeting, or being on the Steering Committee, please fill in the form below!
