Here is a compilation of the discussion at the 2016 VACP Midyear Conference:

  1. The Triad Conference is next week, March 7-9 at the Founder’s Inn, Virginia Beach.  For the $50 registration fee, law enforcement that attend can get 12 Partial In-service Credits (4 Legal, 6 Career Development, 2 Cultural Diversity), and 9 crime prevention specialist certification/recertification hours.   2. If your community is interested in implementing Lethality Assessment Protocols to Reduce Domestic Violence Homicides, please contact Lisa Furr to free training and assistance in planning. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

  3. Lisa Furr is also the coordinator for the testing of untested Physical Evidence Recovery Kits (PERK) project. The Commonwealth won a grant to test untested PERKs that were recently counted for the Department of Forensic Science’s report. If you have untested kits, Ms. Furr will be contacting your department to arrange testing over the span of the grant, which should last a few years.

  4. Please join the Office of Attorney General Mark Herring at Emory and Henry College for a two-day training, April 26-27, 2016 on animal abuse, animal cruelty and domestic violence, animal fighting and links to other criminal activity. Click here for the flyer.  Participants may attend one or both days... April 26, 2016 — Domestic Violence and Pet Abuse; April 27, 2016 — Combating Animal Fighting.

  5. Applications for funding assistance for Virginia Rules Camp will be on-line at the Attorney General’s website the week of March 7.

  7. The Office of the Attorney General is sponsoring regional Train-the-Trainer events from Fair and Impartial Policing. Registration is not yet open, but for planning purposes the dates are:
