Job Description / Responsibilities

The Virginia Lottery is seeking a Chief of Investigations to manage the daily operations, activities, and personnel of a decentralized staff of sworn law enforcement Investigators.  This position reports to the Director of Security, and is also responsible for:  directing, coordinating, and/or conducting all Lottery-related investigations; managing the background investigations process for employees and retailers; supervising, monitoring, and/or assisting with security operations (such as facility security); representing the Security Department on intra-agency project teams; and overseeing the Security Department in the Security Director’s absence.

Qualifications

This position requires extensive management experience in progressively responsible law enforcement positions; considerable knowledge of criminal investigative techniques & practices; excellent verbal and written communications skills; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and in using automated databases and systems; familiarity with facility & workplace security strategies and systems; demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups & collaborate on team projects; and proven ability to make sound decisions and, when necessary, act responsibly on behalf of executive management.

Other requirements include:
Bachelors degree in criminal justice, public administration, management, or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and professional work experience. Current DCJS law enforcement certification, or eligibility to obtain at least a partial exemption from compulsory minimum training standards.
