Job Description / Responsibilities

Position reports to the Manager of the Center for Testing and Executive Search. The Project Manager of the “Discover Policing” project will:

  • Prepare a comprehensive and detailed work plan to achieve project objectives:
    • Enhance capacity and promote recruitment success in law enforcement
    • Conduct a needs assessment to fashion project direction and development strategies
    • Create a dynamic, electronic career information clearinghouse and job board to promote recruitment success
    • Market products and services to the law enforcement community
    • Disseminate resources widely to the law enforcement community.
  • Guide development of products and resources for various audiences, specifically law enforcement.
  • Manage staff (as required) and monitor contract/consultant performance.
  • Design and implement project evaluation plans.
  • Build and sustain productive collaborations with: funding agency professionals; federal, state, local, tribal law enforcement agencies; and, IACP and law enforcement stakeholders.
  • Ensure rules-compliant investment and expenditure of grant funds.
  • Conduct special projects assigned by Senior Program Manager or Programs and Research Activities Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline required.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Core competencies include project design; project management; ability to work collaboratively and productively with funding agency and law enforcement professionals; ability to market project benefits and products effectively.
  • Combination of police experience and/or law enforcement-focused professional endeavors (research, training, education).  Lead role in developing and managing complex projects is a preferred experience.  Work with law enforcement recruitment and selection is a definite asset.

Special Conditions

  • Work site will be IACP Headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
  • This is a grant position with current funding for one year of operation.  Continuation funding will be sought.
  • Considerable travel required.

Salary
Grade ( 9 ); Full-Time; Exempt
$55,000 to $60,000 (Commensurate w/ experience)
