Job Description / Responsibilities
The Senior Project Specialist works with the Director of Programs and Research and Directorate managers on police management studies, technical assistance assignments, promotional tests, assessment centers, executive searches and model policies. Management of a federally-funded police recruitment and selection grant is currently assigned to this position.
Duties include any or all of the following:
- Grant management
- Proposal preparation and presentation.
- Project/contract/client servicing.
- Information gathering, processing, and analysis – in the field and from secondary sources (literature and research services).
- Report and document preparation – writing, editing management study reports and chapters; model policies.
- Executive search – interviewing stake-holders, applicants, and applicant references. Evaluating qualifications and coordination of the process.
- Testing – Design and administration of police promotional process including assessment centers and written testing.
- Researching and responding to police-related policy and practice inquiries from IACP members (and others) will be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in job-relevant discipline such as police science , public/business management, or industrial/organizational psychology. Master’s Degree desired.
- Minimum of five years job-relevant experience with public, private, or non-profit organization.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to efficiently collect, organize, analyze, and present quantitative and qualitative information in field and non-field settings.
- Computer literacy to include word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and related business tools.
- Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics and use of related computer programs.
- Capacity to multi-task and organize projects.
- Presentation and group facilitator skills.
- Capacity to work collaboratively and independently.
Special Conditions
Requires frequent travel (approximately 10% to 20%) to client agencies to collect data for management studies, conduct job analyses, administer test and assessment centers, conduct training, and other client service activities.
Salary
Grade ( 9 ); Full-Time; Exempt
$58,975 to $65,000
