Copper thieves getting brazen
July 25, 2007 | Virginia News
We've all heard the stories: a farmer has a few dozen brand new agricultural drainage pipes sitting on his property waiting to be installed, when someone up and hauls them away; a construction firm is hit by thieves who abscond with hundreds of feet of new copper wiring and copper pipes; a neighbor's air conditioner is stolen for the third time; an empty home in the process of renovation down the street is hit and all of its wiring and water pipes are removed; "vintage," but inoperable vehicles on a remote part of the old homestead are there one day and gone the next.
What do all of these things have in common? Their salvage value!
