Former VACP President Richard Engels Dies

The VACP is greatly saddened to report that Retired Henrico Police Chief Richard G. Engels, 73, passed away on December 1. Chief Engels, president of the VACP from 1995-1996, was born and raised in Petersburg, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 4, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street in Richmond.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at West End Assembly of God, 401 North Parham Road in Richmond, with interment at Westhampton Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Henrico Lodge Charitable Foundation, 1400 North Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23223.
