Northern Virginia gang task force gets funding

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) recently announced that the Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force received a $1.77 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to continue operating.
The multi-jurisdictional task force includes law enforcement officials, social services departments and other agencies from the counties of Fauquier, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William and Arlington. Representatives from the cities of Alexandria, Manassas and Manassas Park also participate in he task force, along with their counterparts from the FBI, DEA, U.S. Marshals Service and Virginia State Police.
The task force was created in 2003. It uses a three-pronged approach focusing on suppression, education and prevention to deal with gangs and related issues.
