For nearly eight years, Waynesboro Police Officer Jessie Shaver patrolled local streets with the department’s only four-legged officer - Kizmet.
The German shepherd was just as much local celebrity as he was Shaver’s partner in justice chasing down drugs and suspects.
“Kizmet more than paid his salary in his nose,” Waynesboro Chief Doug Davis said Tuesday.
The K9 died of cancer in September, meaning that a new furry officer has to step in and take over the job.
