Police Items Stolen from Waynesboro PD

A Waynesboro Police Department vehicle was broken into sometime between November 1 and November 7.
A Virginia State Police-issued badge and a Waynesboro Police Department-issued gun were taken from the vehicle parked in front of an officer's residence in Staunton.
The weapon is a Glock model 22, 40 caliber semi-automatic pistol that was in the vehicle's trunk. The badge was in the front seat of the car.
Police believe the vehicle was locked and the thief used used a Slim Jim or similar implement to get in and then used the inside trunk latch opener to get to the weapon.
Along with the gun, the holster and duty belt were also taken from the trunk. All the items together are worth about $750.
