A Holiday Message from VACP President Chief Jeffrey Katz

President Katz thanks you this holiday season for the valuable efforts you undertake year-round to support our public safety professionals, their families, and the communities we all serve.

Hi. I'm Jeffrey Katz, Chief of the Chesterfield County Police Department and President of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police. On behalf of our executive staffs, I'd like to take a moment to thank you this holiday season for the valuable efforts you undertake year-round to support our public safety professionals, their families, and the communities we all serve.

I don't know about you, but the Christmas Season has always invoked a certain spirit of fellowship - a deeper and more loving connection among people - even among strangers. When we and our colleagues are serving well, we tap into this magical sense of connectivity year round and help others - often complete strangers - find peace amidst chaos, turn despair into comfort, and hold to account those who seek to exploit others for their benefit.

Whether you wear a shield or a star, a uniform or a polo - whether you are sworn or professional support staff, the work you do matters and the contribution you make is invaluable to our vision of realizing a safer Virginia.

To our community partners, supporters, and even those who encourage productive debate thank you. We are better for your engagement.

Personally, I can think of no more noble a pursuit and I'm so very grateful for all you do to stand beside those who literally answer these calls for help throughout the year.

On behalf of the CCPD and the VACP, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and I wish you a Safe and Happy New Year. God bless.
