Crewe Police Department Part-Time Police Officers

The Crewe Police Department (CPD) is seeking qualified Part-Time Police Officers to join our team and serve a small diverse and engaged community.  CPD welcomes motivated, community-oriented service minded, and physically fit individuals, who are committed to lifelong learning and who will uphold the Core Values of the Department. 

Our officers perform responsible and challenging duties associated with community-based policing and include response to both emergency and non-emergency calls for service, preliminary criminal investigations, special event planning, and active engagement in 
community as well as youth programs.  

NOTE:  * Part-Time Positions are subject to no more than 29 hours a week without a Benefits Package and requires that the candidate hold an active law enforcement officer certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia as defined in § 9.1-101 of the Code of Virginia.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:  

 

  • Be a citizen of the United States.  

  • Have a high school education or have passed a high school equivalency examination approved by the Board of Education.  

  • Possess a valid driver’s license of the Commonwealth of Virginia or from the candidate’s state of residency and the ability to obtain one in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  

  • Be at least 18 years of age. 

  • Be certified or be able to certify in First Aid and CPR 

  • Not have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in the Commonwealth. 

  • Shall not have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, including but not limited to petit larceny under §18.2-96, or any offense involving moral turpitude that would be a misdemeanor if committed in the Commonwealth.  

  • Shall not have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to any misdemeanor sex offense in the Commonwealth, another state, or the United States, including but not limited to sexual battery under § 18.2-67.4 or consensual sexual intercourse with a minor 15 years of age or older under clause (ii) of § 18.2371; or domestic assault under § 18.2-57.2 or any offense that would be domestic assault under the laws of another state or the United States. 

  • Shall not have been terminated, resigned in lieu of termination, suspended, or demoted for alleged criminal conduct, use of excessive force, or other official misconduct in violation of the state professional standards of conduct adopted by the Criminal Justice Services Board.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Be a certified as law enforcement officer in the Commonwealth of Virginia as defined in § 9.1-101 of the Code of Virginia and have complied with the law-enforcement certification requirements. 

  • Prior law enforcement experience. 

  • Investigative Experience. 

  • Community Policing Experience. 

  • Police Bike Certified or Willing to Attain Certification.
