Deputy Director Administration
FUNCTION:  Plans, coordinates and implements administrative operations of Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy.  Supervises and directs day-to-day operations of records retention, budgeting, planning, Department of Criminal Justice Services training objectives and administrative codes, and takes on special projects at the direction of the executive director.
 
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
 
Supervises the records function, coordinates with the Department of Criminal Justice Services(DCJS) in relation to (DCJS) regulations, training objectives, and administrative codes, and takes on special projects in relation to training programs and HRCJTA operations.   
 
Maintains HRCJTA Policy Manual
 
Serves as Director in the absence of the Executive Director.
 
Assist with budget preparation
 
Responsible for satellite agencies records and inspections
 
Responsible for all special event preparation such as graduations and other ceremonies.
 
Supervisors administrative functions for HRCJTA operations.
 
Supervises the records function.
 
Coordinates with DCJS in realtion to training mandates and administrative codes.
 
Take on special projects to support the academy mission.

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration (or related area), or a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accreditated college or university with extensive experience in law enforcement training administration required. Candidates with a General Instructor certification are preferred. 
 
Sucessful candidate should have experience in Law Enforcement training, supervision and management. A strong knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia criminal justice training system required.  The D.D. must have the ability to organize and conduct training sessions and presentations.

The D.D. should have a background in L.E. technology and current training trends and philosophies.
 
The D.D. must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with various publics and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
 
The D.D. must be able to present to large group, such as graduations.
