The Chief is expected to coordinate with other agencies, specifically the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, and to collaborate effectively with other agencies, businesses, educational facilities, and community groups.

The Police Department has 6 sworn positions (including the Chief) and one administrative assistant. The department’s annual budget, including salaries, is approximately $870,000.

Development of staff and adherence to General Orders is crucial in this role. The Town is proud of the experience and training of its officers and expects ongoing career and professional development to ensure that the department remains professional in all actions.

The Chief of Police position requires a high school diploma or GED, although a college degree is strongly preferred. Current certification as a law enforcement officer under the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is required. Must maintain a valid driver’s license. All finalists will be subject to requisite background checks, credit checks, and employment history.
