The Lake Monticello Owners’ Association (LMOA) – is a private community of approximately 12,000 residents located in Fluvanna County, Virginia. The LMOA Police Department is one of eight state approved private police agencies in Virginia and employs a team of community minded Police Officers to serve our residents and their guest. Police Officers are sworn law enforcement officers with authority in the Lake Monticello community. Our main focus is maintaining peace and good order within the community.

As a sworn law-enforcement officer, applicants must meet all the requirements established by the Department of Criminal Justice Services for law-enforcement officers. Lake Monticello Police Officers perform general duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of Virginian laws and LMOA rules and regulations within the confines of the Lake Monticello community.

The work in this position consists typically of routine patrol, preliminary response and investigation of criminal activity, medical assistance and welfare checks, enforcement of LMOA policy, and traffic control duties on an assigned shift. Police Officer duties involve an element of personal danger, and candidates must be able to act without immediate supervision and exercise sound independent judgment in meeting emergencies.

Requirements What we are looking for:

· An experienced law-enforcement officer with dedication to community service and building positive relationships.
· The ability to interact with our residents and guests to resolve problems in a fair and impartial manner.
· Applicants must have been DCJS Certified as a law enforcement officer within the past 5 years and eligible for recertification.
· Requires satisfactory results from a medical evaluation, pre-employment substance abuse testing, and comprehensive background investigation
