Qualifications
- Must currently be Virginia D.C.J.S. Certified
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Drug free workplace
- No criminal history
- Must have an ability to deal courteously with the public
- Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Must be able to prepare clear and comprehensive reports
- Must be able to act without immediate supervision
- Must be able to exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies
- Must have the physical ability to perform job tasks
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers

Duties and Responsibilities
Police Officer’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responding to calls for service
- Enforcing criminal and traffic laws
- Engaging in community policing activities
- Investigating criminal activity and traffic accidents
- Conducting proactive patrols
- Testifying in legal proceedings
- Assisting citizens in need
- Assisting other law enforcement agencies
