VACLEA Professional Membership:
$75 Annually

Command Law Enforcement or Security Officers of any institution of higher education in the Commonwealth of Virginia may be eligible for Professional Membership upon application to the Association. Professional members will have full voting privileges and may hold elected or appointed office. Command Law Enforcement or Security Officers are defined as Law Enforcement or Security who are employees of an institution of higher education in the Commonwealth of Virginia and that as their primary job function, direct, administer, or hold the rank of Lieutenant or higher within the Institutional Police or Security Department.

Applicants of Professional Membership other than the Director or Chief Law Enforcement or Security Officer, must be sponsored by the Director or Chief Law Enforcement or Security Officer of the Institution.

VACLEA Associate Membership:
$50 Annually

All Law Enforcement or Security personnel employed by an institution of higher education within the Commonwealth of Virginia, not eligible for Professional Membership, may be considered for Associate Membership upon application to the Association. Associate Members are not eligible to vote or hold elected office. Law Enforcement or Security personnel applicants for Associate Membership must be sponsored by the Director or Chief of Law Enforcement or Security of the institution.

Also eligible for associate membership are individuals and organizations, including institutions of higher education, who demonstrate interest in furthering and supporting the objectives of the Association.


Each application for membership shall be made in writing on an application form provided by the Association, and shall contain such information as prescribed by the Executive Board. The application shall be presented by the Executive Director to the Executive Board, which shall approve or reject the application. The dues of the Association shall be determined by the Executive Board and shall be paid annually.
