David Whitley, VCLEE-CO

Assistant Chief David E. Whitley commands the Operations Division of the Danville Police Department. He has served the department since 2003. With over two decades of progressive law enforcement experience, Assistant Chief Whitley has been assigned to Patrol, Investigations, Special Investigations, Street Crimes, and led specialized units focused on gangs and gangs related violent crime. He served as Assistant Chief of the Services Division prior to his current assignment. He has also served specialized teams such as Hostage Negotiations and the department’s Civil Disturbance Unit. He is a certified general instructor, and defensive tactics instructor. Assistant Chief Whitley holds a Master’s Degree in Executive Leadership from Liberty University. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course (AOC) class 148. He is committed to advancing modern policing strategies, interagency collaboration, and community engagement.
