VACP Certified Law Enforcement Executive Officers

The VACP Certified Law Enforcement Chief Executive Officer (VCLEE-CEO) designation is for currently-appointed chiefs or commanding officers of a Virginia law enforcement agency with primary law enforcement authority. To earn the CEO designation, chiefs must have 1 year of tenure in their position (time as interim/acting agency head does not count) and accumulate 100 points worth of continuing formal education, professional development in leadership/supervision, volunteer service, membership in additional law enforcement organizations, and/or agency accreditation.

The VACP Certified Law Enforcement Command Officer (VCLEE-CO) designation is currently-serving Virginia law enforcement command officers who serve in an executive or upper management position at the rank of lieutenant or above (or the equivalent rank for law enforcement agencies with 35 or less sworn force, as provided on an organizational chart depicting the levels within the agency); or, for currently-appointed chiefs or commanding officers of a Virginia law enforcement agency who don’t meet the eligibility requirements for Certified Chief Executive (CEO).

To earn the CO designation, command officers must have 1 year of tenure in a command position (time as interim/acting does not count) and accumulate 75 points worth of continuing formal education, professional development in leadership/supervision, volunteer service, and/or membership in additional law enforcement organization.
