Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over: August 13 - September 1, 2025

Traffic Safety,

Join Virginia DMV’s Highway Safety Office in promoting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) National Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over (DSOGPO) campaign. In Virginia last year, during Labor Day weekend, there were 4 lives lost on the roads due to a drunk driver. In addition, there were 115 alcohol-related crashes and 23 serious injuries. It’s important to communicate with our communities to bring awareness about the dangers and consequences of impaired driving.

As we all work to prevent drunk driving crashes, injuries, and deaths, DMV encourages our partners to use the Washington Regional Alcohol Program's  “What’s The Damage” campaign to remind drivers to plan ahead for a safe ride home and never to drive after drinking.

Law enforcement agencies participating in the mandatory DSOGPO campaign should submit their data by September 23, 2025. Your timely reporting helps us measure impact and continue building a safer Virginia for everyone.
