Fredericksburg Police Promotes Crystal Hill to Deputy Chief of Police

Please join us in congratulating Crystal Hill on being selected as the Fredericksburg Police Department’s next Deputy Chief of Police.
 
The Deputy Chief selection process included a competitive statewide search to identify highly qualified candidates for this important leadership role. The Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police facilitated the assessment and interview process, with all applicants demonstrating strong qualifications and experience. Deputy Chief Hill stood out for her extensive knowledge, leadership abilities, and dedication to both the department and the Fredericksburg community.
 
During the past four months serving in an interim capacity, Deputy Chief Hill demonstrated her ability to effectively lead while supporting the vision of the agency and helping move the department forward. We are excited to see her continue serving in this role and helping lead the department into the future.
 
About Deputy Chief of Police Crystal Hill:
 
Deputy Chief Hill began her career with the Fredericksburg Police Department in 2006 as a Communications Officer. Over the course of her more than twenty-year career with the department, Deputy Chief Hill has worked in three of the agency’s four divisions and has held every supervisory rank during her tenure. She takes great pride in her commitment to both the department and the citizens of Fredericksburg.
 
Deputy Chief Hill’s career can be marked by the management and implementation of several large-scale projects for the agency such as the creation of the Law Enforcement Phlebotomy Program, the School Speed Camera installation safety initiative, and the Department of Motor Vehicle Traffic Services and Alcohol Grants.
 
Deputy Chief Hill holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice from Germanna Community College. In 2024, she completed the Leading, Educating, and Developing (LEAD) program through the University of Virginia, along with numerous additional leadership training courses. She has also been selected to attend the FBI National Academy in the fall of 2026, a prestigious law enforcement leadership program attended by less than one percent of law enforcement professionals nationwide. The Fredericksburg Police Department looks forward to her continued leadership, dedication, and service to the Fredericksburg community as she helps guide the department into the future.
