James City County Assistant Police Chief Anthony G. “Tony” Dallman has announced his retirement after a distinguished 31-year career dedicated to protecting and serving our community.

Assistant Chief Dallman began his journey with the James City County Police Department in 1995, rising through the ranks from Patrol Officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Major, and ultimately Assistant Chief in 2022. Along the way, he led with integrity, compassion, and steady leadership, whether supervising patrol shifts, guiding the Community Services Unit, or serving as Interim Chief.

His commitment to professional excellence is reflected in his academic achievements and leadership training, including the FBI National Academy. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Assistant Chief Dallman is a devoted husband, father, and valued member of our community, known for his humor, kindness, and dedication.

Assistant Chief Dallman concludes his active-duty service on December 16, with his official retirement date set for March 1, 2026. Thank you, Tony, for your decades of service and leadership! Enjoy your retirement!
